Frequently
Asked
Questions

If you cannot find the answer to your question here, please send us an email: uncle@unclepolo.com

Is the Study Abroad Program a degree program?

The Study Abroad Program is not a degree program. At the end of each successful semester you will be issued an academic transcript with displaying the courses you have taken and the grades and credit hours. Use this transcript to get credit from your home university.

Is the Study Abroad Program a business minor program?

With your transcript you can apply to get the courses recognized by your home university as a business minor. To make sure all is in order, you should speak to your faculty and international office about business minor course requirements before you come to Shenzhen.

How much will it cost?

Tuition fees for the Study Abroad Program are ca. 12000 USD/semester (80.000 CNY). Off campus single rooms are about 500 USD/month, general living expenses are also about 500 USD/month. In addition, you need to budget for travel, health insurance, visa costs etc.

Do you offer accommodation?

In Shenzhen, we recommend you to stay off campus in single rooms at about 500 USD/month for a single room close to the university. There are on campus dorms but they are usually shared and not most foreign students' first choice. We will assist you on the ground when you first arrive.

When should I apply?

Applications open ca. 6 months before the semester starts, i.e.  March for fall semester and September for spring semester. The earlier you apply, the better, as you will need time to pick the right courses, apply for visas, book your plane ticket etc.

When does the semester begin?

Fall semester usually starts at the end of August while spring semester usually starts at the end of February.

Do you offer airport pick-up?

We will give you all the necessary information before your arrival to get to the campus on your own. If you wish to arrange a dedicated airport pickup from Shenzhen airport at 300 USD per pickup, please tell us so by email: uncle@unclepolo.com

Is there a dress code at the university?

There is no dress code at CUHK.

Do I need a visa for my semester abroad?

You will need to apply for a Chinese student visa at your nearest Chinese consulate with invitation documents we will provide. In the meantime, make sure that you have a passport that is valid for at least 6 more months after you finish your Study Abroad Program semester(s).

Can you help me find an internship?

Currently, Chinese visa regulations make it difficult to organize internships for foreign short term students, but regulations always change so ask us again after you arrive in Shenzhen. You will also have plenty of opportunities to network while in China.
